I didn’t know a Podiatrist could do more than just cut nails, corns and calluses!

This is a common remark that I hear all too often. So, what is a Podiatrist and what do they actually do? Strap in everyone, I have some news for you! Podiatrists are the best kept secret in the modern world of health.

We are the lower limb specialists, treating and diagnosing conditions and diseases of not only the foot but also the ankles, legs, knees and hips as well.

Yes, we do cut nails, corns and calluses but this is only the tip of the iceberg. We can assess your gait and footwear and treat musculoskeletal and sports injuries such as:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Heel pain
  • Flat feet
  • Stress fractures
  • Ankle sprains
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Peroneal tendinopathy
  • Tibialis posterior tendinopathy
  • Shin splints
  • Paediatric foot and ankle conditions

…and so much more!

Have a question?

Let us know, here to help!

We can treat a myriad of skin, nail, joint and nerve conditions such as:

  • Warts
  • Blisters
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Cracked heels
  • Athletes foot
  • Toenail fungus
  • Bunions
  • Toe deformities
  • Neuromas
  • Diabetes management
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

…and the list goes on.

Yes, this is a long list of problems and conditions so what can a Podiatrist actually do to help you?

Well, we can provide you with stretching and strengthening exercises, padding and strapping, prefabricated or custom-made orthotics, massage and dry needling, give local anesthetic, perform minor surgeries, refer you for an X-ray, ultrasound or MRI and liaise with other healthcare practitioners to help you get back on your feet as soon as possible.

You’re probably thinking CRIKEY that’s a lot! It’s pretty incredible how one profession can do so much but still be relatively unknown to the world. Podiatrists study for 4 years at university to become highly trained professionals, some go on to do post-graduate medical and surgical training allowing them to perform reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle.

Podiatry is waiting to be discovered and you can play a huge role.

Are you surprised by what a Podiatrist can offer you? If you have a story about how a Podiatrist has helped you, we would love to hear it. Please email hello@fnqhealthco.com.au
